Taylor Swift Biography

Taylor Alison Swift born December 13, 1989, she is an American country pop singer-songwriter and actress.
In 2006, she released her debut single "Tim McGraw", then her self-titled debut album, which was subsequently certified multi-platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. 
In November 2008, Swift released her second album, Fearless. Fearless and Taylor Swift finished 2008 at number-three and number-six respectively, with sales of 2.1 and 1.5 million. Fearless has topped the Billboard 200 in 11 non-consecutive weeks; no album has spent more time at No. 1 since 2000. Swift was named Artist of the Year by Billboard Magazine in 2009. Fearless won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 2010.
In 2008, her albums sold a combined four million copies, making her the best-selling musician of the year in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Forbes ranked Swift 2009's 69th-most powerful celebrity with earnings of $18 million. In January 2010 Nielsen SoundScan lists Swift as the top-selling digital artist in music history with over 24.3 million digital tracks sold. To date, she has sold over 10 million albums worldwide.



Taylor Swift was born and raised in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania as the first child and only daughter of Andrea, a homemaker, and Scott Swift, a stockbroker. She has a younger brother, Austin. When she was in fourth grade, Swift won a national poetry contest with a three-page poem entitled "Monster In My Closet".
At the age of 10, Swift began writing songs and singing them at karaoke contests, festivals, and fairs around her hometown. When she was 12 years old, she devoted an entire summer to writing a 350-page novel, which remains unpublished. Her first major show was a well-received performance at the Bloomsburg Fair. In 2008, she earned her high school diploma through homeschooling at the age of 18.


The love interest in her song, "Tim McGraw", is named Johnny.
Taught herself to play guitar.


With her first No. 1 song "Our Song", at age 18 years and 9 days, became the fifth teen-aged female singer to top the Billboard magazine Hot Country Songs chart. The others were Jean Shepard (19 years, 9 months in August 1953 with "A Dear John Letter"), Tanya Tucker (14 years, 7 months in May 1973 with "What's Your Mama's Name"), Marie Osmond (14 years, 1 month in November 1973 with "Paper Roses") and LeAnn Rimes (14 years, 4 months in December 1996 with "One Way Ticket (Because I Can)").

Grew up on a Christmas tree farm and her job was to rake Praying Mantis pods off the trees.

Her music influences include Dolly Parton, Shania Twain, LeAnn Rimes, Patsy Cline, and her grandmother, who was a professional opera singer.


Her best friend Abigail Anderson, who she's known since ninth grade, is mentioned in Taylor's song Fifteen from her Fearless album.


She graduated from high school in July 2008 from the Aaron Academy, a Christian high school in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
